2 Day NAAC Sponsored National Seminar on - “NEP 2020: Multidisciplinary Education & Holistic Development – A Quality Initiative”
St. Vincent Pallotti College, Raipur is the first English medium college of the region established in the year 1995. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the college successfully organized A NAAC sponsored National Seminar on “NEP 2020: Multidisciplinary Education & Holistic Development – A Quality Initiative”.
The Chief Guest and the Keynote Speaker for the seminar was Dr. Aruna Palta, Vice Chancellor, Hemchand Yadav University, Durg, Chhattisgarh. The seminar was inaugurated by the honorable Vice Chancellor along with Rev. Fr. Amit Tirkey, Director of the college, Dr. Kuldeep Dubey, Principal, Dr. G. Padma Gouri, Vice Principal, Mrs. Pooja Rathi, IQAC Coordinator & Organizing Secretary, Members of Governing Body, eminent Principals, and participants from various institutions. Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey welcomed all the dignitaries in his welcome note. Mrs. Pooja Rathi focused on the significance of the theme of the Seminar. The Keynote Speaker Dr. Aruna Palta, in her speech reflected about the execution of significant factors of NEP 2020. The inaugural session was concluded with a note of gratitude by Dr. G. Padma Gouri, Vice Principal of the college.
The 1st session was conducted by Resource Person Dr. Protibha Mukherjee Sahukar, Principal, Durga College, Raipur who expressed the role of language in the context of NEP. The 2nd Session was conducted by Resource person Dr. S. Sreenivasa, Deputy Advisor, NAAC. In his online presentation he focused upon the Innovation in Research with special reference to Assessment.
Technical Sessions were conducted in two different halls keeping in view the number of presenters. Paper presentation was conducted in different aspects of National Education Policy by a good number of presenters from various educational institutions.
The 2nd day of the Seminar commenced with the inspiring presentation by Prof. Sanjay Kavishwar, Dean Commerce, Nagpur University. His topic of discussion was “Creating Vibrant Ecosystem for Holistic Development of Learners”. In the 4th Session, Prof A.K. Gupta explained in detail about the Revised Framework of NAAC Assessment.
In the Valedictory session, the Organizing secretary and the IQAC Coordinator Mrs. Pooja Rathi presented the report of the Two Day National Seminar. The Outcomes of the Seminar were
Outcomes of the Seminar:
Regular formative assessment for learning rather than the existing summative assessment.
The 10+2 structure of school is to be replaced by a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years respectively. It will include 12 years of schooling and three years of pre-schooling.
Teachers to be prepared for assessment reforms.
Credit transfer and academic bank of credit for digitally storing academic credits earned from different HEIs.
Multiple entry and exit.
The New Education Policy 2020 has supported the three-language policy.
Holistic or wholesome approach and concept of education under NEP.
Provision for adult and elderly education in NEP.
Flexible curricula and creative subject combinations.
Challenges for Implementation.
Follow up Actions of the seminar are:
An important action would be to repair and revamp the system through a bottom-up approach and bring a definitive change in the mindset of the stakeholders, including the office staff and parents, right at the outset through School Internship programs of B.Ed. Trainees.
Case studies must be done to examine the performance of the autonomous colleges, who have adopted NEP 2020.
Teachers in higher education and those at the school level education can collaborate and plan out pedagogy for the benefit of learners.
Emphasis on optimum utilization of resources and existing infrastructure.
Seminars, Discussions & Symposiums should be conducted to put forth the views of different stakeholders.
The Seminar concluded with the distribution of certificates to the presenters and with a note of assurance to continue the efforts to bring about the quality in the field of education.
